Kosovo score first official international goal

It’s still a work in progress for Kosovo.

Micha Will

After years of appeals, Kosovo were finally allowed by FIFA to field a national soccer team in international friendlies beginning this year. They were not yet full fledged FIFA or UEFA members, but at least they could play matches.

Unfortunately, Kosovo’s first match didn’t go as planned. A 0-0 draw with Haiti left them still in search of their first goal. But on Wednesday, in front of a capacity crowd in Mitrovica, Kosovo finally got themselves a real, official international goal.

And with that Albert Bunjaku went into the history books.

The match didn't go so well for Kosovo, as Turkey easily dispatched them, 6-1, but hey, they're on the board now.
