Gareth Bale scores a €100m goal?

The world’s most expensive player has scored a massive goal.

Alex Livesey

Gareth Bale was nearly the scapegoat for Real Madrid's failure to capture La Decima. Atlético Madrid defended expertly for most of the Champions League final, with all of Los Blancos' decent chances falling to Bale. He failed to convert all of them, missing good opportunities on three occasions.

But Sergio Ramos bailed him out, giving him another chance. And he came up huge in the second half of stoppage time with a header to put Real on top.

There’s no such thing as a single goal worth €100 million, but this certainly comes close. The world’s most expensive player ever has redeemed himself.

And while we’re here, how about that run from Angel Di Maria? He’s been his team’s most dangerous player all night.
