Ghana’s lineup is out, and there’s no Michael Essien or Kevin-Prince Boateng
Kwesi Appiah has decided to leave Michael Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng on the bench.

In a bit of a surprise move, both Michael Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng will not be in Ghana's starting lineup when they take the pitch on Natal against the United States.
According to a post on the Ghana FA website, head coach Kewsi Appiah has instead opted to hand a start to Christian Atsu, over Boateng in the Black Stars' midfield. It also appears that Appiah will lineup his team in a 4-4-2 formation, with Jordan Ayew and Asamoah Gyan up top as the two strikers, and Sully Muntari and Mohammed Rabiu in the central midfield.
USA vs. Ghana
The 4-4-2 is surprising since most expected Ghana to play a 4-3-3, that would allow them to take advantage of their exceptional speed and creativity, especially on the wings. If injuries to Essien and Boateng aren’t involved in the decision, it certainly sends the message that Ghana simply do not fear the USA.
In a few hours, we’ll know whether or not Appiah was right to believe that.
