Luis Suárez denies biting Giorgio Chiellini

Asked about the incident by reporters after the match, the Uruguay striker denied any wrongdoing.

Luis Suárez denied he bit Giorgio Chiellini when asked about the incident by reporters in the wake of Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy.

Suárez was also asked about possible punishment from FIFA over the incident.

Video showed Suárez appear to bite the shoulder of Chiellini, causing the Italian defender to react in shock, pain or both. Chiellini repeatedly tried to show the match referee the spot on his shoulder where he claimed Suárez bit him, but there was no punishment handed out for the incident on the pitch.

FIFA will now review the referee’s report and video evidence before determining if any action will be taken against the Uruguay striker.
