Lionel Messi fires Argentina into the lead ... for 30 seconds

Games where no one wants to play defense at all are the best games, so we solute Argentina and Nigeria for what they've done in the first five minutes of their match on Wednesday.

In the 3rd minute, Lionel Messi roofed this pretty shot right after Angel Di Maria had his effort saved onto the post.

It turns out that anyone predicting a bloodbath was sorely mistaken. Argentina got caught celebrating and Ahmed Musa pulled one back for the Nigerians less than one minute later. His finish might have been even better than Messi’s.

If this result holds, Nigeria will go through to the second round. They only need a draw to ensure they progress over Iran.
