Injuries force Portugal into lineup changes against Ghana
Injuries have forced Portugal into making a few changes to their lineup for their final World Cup group game against Ghana.
Injuries to left-backs Fábio Coentrão and André Almeida means Miguel Veloso may well have to play in an unfamiliar defensive role, with William Carvalho and Rúben Amorim coming into the midfield. Cristiano Ronaldo keeps his place out on the left wing, with Éder replacing centre-forward Hélder Postiga.
Portugal v. Ghana
Ghana sent Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng home for fighting in training, it was today announced. Emmanuel Badu replaces the former in the midfield pivot, while Abdul Majeed Waris starts ahead of Jordan Ayew in Boateng’s attacking midfield slot.
Portugal starting lineup (4-3-3): Beto; Miguel Veloso, Bruno Alves, Pepe, João Pereira; Rúben Amorim, William Carvalho, João Moutinho; Cristiano Ronaldo, Éder, Nani.
Ghana starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Fatau Dauda; Kwadwo Asamoah, John Boye, Jonathan Mensah, Harrison Afful; Emmanuel Badu, Mohammed Rabiu; André Ayew, Abdul Majeed Waris, Christian Atsu; Asamoah Gyan.
