The Netherlands and Brazil were both disappointed to be eliminated from the World Cup, but they're taking the 3rd place match seriously (4 p.m. ET, ESPN). Both teams have opted to play mostly first choice squads instead of rotating heavily to give different players a shot.
It's not terribly shocking that Brazil are going all-out to win. Anything but lifting the World Cup was going to be disappointing for the Selecao, but after the 7-1 beating they suffered at the hands of Germany, they'd like to go out on a high note. Meanwhile, Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has stated that the 3rd place game should be abolished, but he's giving his veteran players another run-out anyway.
