Everton have completed the signing of young Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of £28 million. The 21-year-old Belgian international spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, and has now signed a five-year contact with the Toffees.
Romelu Lukaku leaves Chelsea for Everton
The Belgian international has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park.

It’s an excellent signing for Everton, who looked extremely light up front after Lukaku and Lacina Traoré returned to their parent clubs at the end of last season. But not only do they now have more depth, but a young player who could go on to be one of the world’s best. Lukaku scored 15 times in 31 Premier League games for the Toffees last season, and he’s still got a lot of development time left.
Why, then, did Chelsea elect to let him go? Well, Lukaku's certainly rough around the edges. He was very poor for an underwhelming Belgium side at the World Cup in Brazil, and with the arrivals of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba this summer, Chelsea boss José Mourinho clearly feels the Blues have sufficient depth in attack to let him leave.
However, should Lukaku reach his full potential, it could be a costly error.
