Julio Grondona, FIFA executive, passes away at 82
Argentinian FA president and FIFA executive vice president Julio Grondona has died after being hospitalized on Tuesday.

Grondona founded Argentinian club Arsenal de Sarandi in 1956 and ran the club for nearly 20 years until he was elected president of a bigger club, Independiente. He held that position for three years before being elected president of the Argentine football association in 1979, a position he held for the remainder of his life. This led to him eventually becoming a powerful figure with FIFA, where he was a senior vice president.
During his time in power, Grondona attracted a significant level of controversy. He has been widely criticized for anti-Semitic remarks and offensive comments about the Falklands War, while Diego Maradona has referred to him as a gangster.
