Earlier this summer, Nike announced that it had won the business of Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. As part of the announcement, the brand unveiled a very nice first effort that featured the club’s traditional half white/half red motif and a classy polo collar. The Swoosh has followed that effort up with a very classy away kit that features two tones of blue that pay respect to Monaco’s traditional away kit color.
AS Monaco’s new away kit is great until it’s ruined by a sponsor
The new away shirt features a bright, “electric” blue torso with a shallow v-neck collar. The sleeves and the collar outline are a darker navy blue for a theme that Nike say reflects “the different shades of the ocean the principality overlooks.” The shirt is very clean with only a white Nike logo and Monaco’s redesigned club crest on the chest. At the moment, Monaco do not have a shirt sponsor for the upcoming season, leaving an unobstructed design. The sleeves each feature a thin red band that matches a section of the same color on the inside of the neck.
The shorts that match the kit are mostly navy blue with a thin electric blue stripe that runs the length of both legs. The socks are almost entirely the lighter blue a thick band of navy at the top and a set of chevrons at the back to match.
