Sevilla simply couldn’t muster an effective attack against the Madrid defense, but overall it wasn’t a poor performance for Unai Emery’s side. They’ll no doubt be disappointed in the result, but they managed to limit Madrid’s chances in general, and can build on that as they enter the new La Liga season.

Stu ForsterBoth of these sides have history in this competition, with Real Madrid winning their only Super Cup back in 2002, and Sevilla in 2006. However, they’ve both also been on the losing side, too. The trophy certainly isn’t the most prestigious, though both sides will no doubt be keen to cap their pre-season preparations with some bonus silverware. They won’t want to be beaten again.
