The Javi Garcia experiment is finally over at Manchester City. The Spanish international midfielder is heading to Russia, where Zenit St. Petersburg will be counting on him to boost their Russian Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

Manchester City have parted ways with Javi Garcia, shipping him off to Russia for a decent fee.

Garcia joined City from Benfica for a fee of roughly £16m back in 2012 and has two respectable, if unspectacular, seasons with the Citizens. It was clear he'd be expendable when they purchased Fernando from FC Porto earlier in the transfer window, and City are probably thrilled that they've been able to find someone to pay a significant fee for Garcia, who is no longer young at 27.
The Daily Mail reports that the fee will be £13m, which is a decent get for City. It’s not exactly great business when a team pays a lot of money for a player, he’s mildly disappointing and they sell him at a £3m loss, but it could have been much worse. The £13m fee is more than anyone expected City to get for Garcia this summer. Zenit are rich, though, and their longtime star midfielders are now well into their 30s. They needed someone like Garcia, so this is a good deal for all parties.
