Manchester City begin their title defense on Sunday with a trip to St. James’ Park, where Newcastle will be waiting, hoping they’ve done enough over the summer to erase the horror that was the second half of last season.
Newcastle United vs. Manchester City: Lineups
Indeed, Alan Pardew has included a slew of new faces for Newcastle’s first game of the Premier League season. Daryl Janmaat, Jack Colback, Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere all get the chance to prove their worth from the start.
They’d likely feel a bit better, however, if it wasn’t City that was visiting. While injuries have certainly dictated Manuel Pellegrini’s lineup choices, there’s just one new face, that of defensive midfielder Fernando. Stevan Jovetic, however, may feel like a new face, as the Montenegrin missed much of last season, his first in England, with injury.
