Bundesliga scores: Schalke 04 betrayed by defense in loss to Hannover

It was a busy Saturday in Germany as the opening weekend of the new Bundesliga season continued. Here’s a recap of all the day’s matches.

The opening round of the 2014/15 Bundesliga season continued on Saturday with six matches, including a meeting of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, last season's second and fourth place sides respectively.

Hoffenheim took control of their match against Augsburg late in the first half and never looked back in a 2-0 win. Tarik Elyounoussi and Adám Szalai scored less than three minutes apart to turn a close match into a relatively comfortable win.

Hertha BSC and Werder Bremen played to a 2-2 draw in one of the most exciting matches of the day. Former Dortmund striker Julian Schieber looked to have Hertha rolling after goals in the 16th and 47th minute had his side up 2-0. Werder Bremen roared back though with goals two minutes apart from Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti and Franco Di Santo to pull even.

Schalke 04 looked to be off to a good start after Klaas Jan Huntelaar put them in front early in the second half, but their defense collapsed. Hannover scored twice in three minutes -- Edgar Prib (67') and Joselu (70') -- to grab a victory.

Hamburg -- who avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season -- and newly promoted Köln played to a scoreless draw. Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Freiburg thanks to a first half goal from Haris Seferovic.

Here’s a rundown of all the results from Saturday in the Bundesliga.

Hoffenheim 2-0 Augsburg

Hannover 96 2-1 Schalke 04

Hertha BSC 2-2 Werder Bremen

Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Freiburg

Köln 0-0 Hamburger SV

Borussia Dortmund 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen (Full match report)
