Bayer Leverkusen vs. Borussia Dortmund: Final score 2-0, a win in record time

Bellarabi scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history and found Kießling for a goal with the last kick of the match.

In the first evening match of the Bundesliga season, Bayer Leverkusen made quick work of Borussia Dortmund to win 2-0. Karim Bellarabi and Stefan Kießling book-ended an empty match to give Leverkusen their first three points of the season.

Bellarabi needed just nine seconds to score the opening goal for Leverkusen, the fastest goal in Bundesliga history. He maneuvered his way around defender Matthias Ginter before slipping a shot near post past the dive of Mitchell Langerak.

The goal came so fast that Dortmund could not catch up for the rest of the match. Bayer 04 conceded a lot of the possession, content with Dortmund sliding through passes before having Ömer Toprak and Emir Spahic clearing the ball away. Ciro Immobile ran his tail off leading the Dortmund line in his Bundesliga debut, but he couldn't find a window in Leverkusen's packed and organized defense.

Bayer 04 broke like greyhounds moving into attack, with Bellarabi, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and Son Heung-Min trying to take advantage of the open space in the forward Dortmund defense. Bellarabi eventually poked the ball away from Erik Durm in added time, finding a streaking Kießling who put the game to bed for the final kick of the match.

Dortmund had a chance late in the match to equalize off of a corner kick, but Bayer keeper Bernd Leno made an acrobatic save to deny Matthias Ginter the pleasure of scoring. Aubameyang knocked a shot on frame in added time, but Leno rejected his near post shot as well. The Schwarzgelben had ten shots in the match, but just four from attacking players.

Leverkusen will try to use their momentum in the return leg of their Champions League qualifying round against København. Dortmund will travel to Augsburg in a weeks time to look for their first three points.
