Capital One Cup scores: MK Dons crush Manchester United, Leicester City out as well

MK Dons provided the shock of the day as they hammered Manchester United 4-0

Clive Mason

Louis van Gaal's troubles got even worse on Tuesday as his Manchester United side suffered their second loss in three games, falling 4-0 to League One side MK Dons. The Dons were led by a brace from William Grigg, but it was Benik Afobe's goal in the 70th minute that sealed United's doom. Afobe added a fourth goal for the Dons in the 84th minute to complete the humiliation.

The Red Devils weren't the only Premier League side to crash out though. Shrewsbury Town defeated Leicester City thanks to Andrew Mangan's goal late in the first half. West Ham lost to Sheffield United 5-4 on penalties as well.

The rest of the Premier League sides playing on Tuesday, including Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea City and Crystal Palace, all got wins to advance to the next round. West Brom survived on penalties against Oxford United winning 7-6 after the team's played to a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes.
