It's been a long, drawn-out process, but Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of Federico Fazio. The central defender moves from Sevilla on a four-year deal, reportedly worth £8m. The Argentine helps fill the boots of Michael Dawson, who joined Hull City earlier in the week.
Tottenham sign defender Federico Fazio from Sevilla

Fazio has been with Sevilla since January 2007. Injuries have hampered his time with the La Liga outfit, but he made himself a regular starter last season, with 27 league appearances. He also started 12 times in the Europa League, as Sevilla went on to hoist the trophy.
Spurs are obviously hoping he remains healthy, and able to slot into the team quickly. Jan Vertonghen is a good bet to start in central defender whenever he is fit, but new manager Mauricio Pochettino has been in search of a partner for him. Younes Kaboul has gotten the nod early on, but he hasn’t quite looked up to the task.
Tottenham too have their own European challenge facing them this season, as well as their ever-present hope of clinching one of the top four spots in the Premier League. With a combined 5-0 scoreline from their first two matches, it seems that hope may once again be realistic, but Tottenham's first true test comes this weekend, when they play host to Liverpool.
