This game is the final of the International Champions Cup, a large friendly competition that’s been staged in the United States for a few years running. Neither team will care much about the trophy, but they certainly won’t want to lose to each other, and the fact that they’ve made it to the final is certainly a good sign for the young and fringe talent that’s been given a chance to shine on both sides.
New signing Ander Herrera is in the starting XI for Manchester United, while Wayne Rooney will captain the team. Liverpool will be starting a three-man midfield of Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen.
