PSG end pursuit of Real Madrid’s Ángel Di María

Ángel Di María won’t be moving to Paris this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has confirmed that his club will not be signing Real Madrid midfielder Ángel Di María this summer. At the presentation of their recent defensive acquisition, David Luiz, the Qatari businessmen revealed that his club were interested in signing the Argentine, but that the Merengues' demands were too high:

“We talked to [Madrid president] Florentino Pérez, but Ángel Di María is too expensive. We have ended talks.”

With Real Madrid having strengthened their midfield already this summer with the acquisitions of James Rodríguez and Toni Kroos, it leaves Di María in an uncertain position. Despite enjoying the best season of his career en route to Madrid's Champions League win a few months back, he may well now find it difficult to break into Carlo Ancelotti's first team.

One possibility is Manchester United moving back in for the Argentine international, who were strongly linked before PSG's interest emerged.
