Gastón Ramírez has joined Hull City from Southampton on a season-long loan, both sides have confirmed. The winger, 23, has found playing time difficult to come by following his summer 2012 arrival in the Premier League, and the Saints will hope that they can maximize the return on their reported £12 million investment, because at present it doesn't look as though he'll be able to break his way into the team.
Southampton loan Gaston Ramirez to Hull City
Hull have acquired Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez on a season-long loan from Southampton.
Hull, meanwhile, will be expecting something approximating the exciting, creative winger that Southampton bought from Bologna two seasons ago. Ramirez is part of a major strengthening operation for the Tigers, who've also brought in West Ham United's Mohamed Diamé and broken their transfer record to acquire center forward Abel Hernandez. We've been used to seeing Steve Bruce's side as mostly functional, but it's entirely possible that the trio of newcomers can add some much-needed flair to the KC Stadium.
It’s currently unclear whether there is a loan fee or how much of Ramirez’s wages Hull will be covering.
