Southampton will look to continue their excellent form with a win over managerless Newcastle United in the Premier League’s late Saturday kickoff. The Saints travel to St. James’ Park on the back of four wins in their last five league matches, including impressive victories over Arsenal and Manchester United. They now sit up in third place, and with each passing week, Champions League qualification looks an ever-more achievable goal.
Newcastle United vs. Southampton live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch the EPL online
Southampton will hope to move a step closer to Champions League qualification against Newcastle on Saturday.

As for Newcastle, they've been as patchy as ever so far this season -- something not helped by the recent loss of manager Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace. Caretaker manager John Carver has made no secret of his desire to get the job full-time, though with them having struggled over the last few matches, that is looking increasingly unlikely. A win over Southampton, however, could give owner Mike Ashley some food for thought.
Key player - Ayoze Pérez (Newcastle)
One of the signings of the season so far has been Newcastle's young forward Ayoze Pérez, who arrived from hometown club Tenerife for a meagre fee in the summer. He's scored five Premier League goals so far, but his outstanding workrate and surprising strength has seen him swiftly earn fan favourite status at St. James' Park. He'll cause the biggest attacking problems for Southampton in this match.
Key matchup - Dušan Tadić vs. Daryl Janmaat
Southampton winger Dušan Tadić stole the show in their victory at Old Trafford, netting the only goal of the game (and celebrating rather extravagantly afterwards). He’s adapted to Premier League life with ease, and Newcastle’s right-back Daryl Janmaat won’t be looking forward to going up against him on Saturday.
Newcastle United injuries and suspensions
Out: Jak Alnwick (shoulder), Adam Armstrong (ankle), Steven Taylor (calf), Mehdi Abeid (foot), Rolando Aarons (hamstring), Siem de Jong (thigh), Curtis Good (groin), Papiss Cissé, Cheick Tioté (international duty). In doubt: Rob Elliot (thigh), Ryan Taylor (knee).
Southampton injuries and suspensions
Out: Toby Alderweireld, Victor Wanyama (hamstring), Morgan Schneiderlin (groin), Sadio Mané (calf), Sam Gallagher, Jay Rodriguez (knee), Emmanuel Mayuka, Maya Yoshida (international duty). In doubt: None.
Both of these sides have a string of first-team players injured or on international duty. Despite Newcastle’s injury list being slightly longer, it’s arguably Southampton who have been harder hit: both of their midfield anchormen, Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama, are unavailable. Newcastle, meanwhile, will be without the long-term injured Siem de Jong among others.
