Day three, the day we've all be waiting for, the day we get our first glimpse of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group of Death. Group C takes to the pitch today, pitting Senegal against Ghana in the first match, before South Africa take on favorites Algeria to close the day.
Africa Cup of Nations 2015: Schedule and how to watch on Day 3
The Group of Death comes to life on Monday in AFCON -- Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Algeria all on offer.

And yes -- for the first time since the tournament started, those in the U.S. can watch it live!
The news from yesterday
Day two brought two more 1-1 draws, leaving us with just one win in four: Gabon’s 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso. The day began quickly, when Given Singuluma fired Zambia ahead with a strike from the edge of the box after just 62 seconds. Really, though, it was Democratic Republic of Congo that looked the sharper of the two sides, a bit surprising considering that they made it thus far by virtue of being the third round’s best third-place team. Zambia keeper Kennedy Mweene did an excellent job of keeping his side in front, but in the 66th minute he was finally beaten, with a thumping shot from Yannick Bolasie that put DRC level.
The second game progressed as expected: Tunisia tightened ranks and defended while Cape Verde poured forward. The Blue Sharks hit the woodwork early on, had a penalty appeal reduced to a free kick just outside the area, and had a shot cleared off the line. What was surprising, then, is that it was Tunisia that broke the deadlock, with Ali Moncer scoring against the run of play. Less then ten minutes later, though, Cape Verde was back on level terms thanks to a penalty converted by Héldon.
What to look for today
In a tournament full of surprises it could well be that Group C provides the most -- if only because there's no way of predicting which two sides are most likely to advance. Up first we've got Ghana, one of Africa's most successful sides and one most people automatically assume will get through to the next round. But the Black Stars had a bit of a rough time in qualifying, have played just a couple months under new manager Avram Grant, and will be without captain Asamoah Gyan, who has malaria. Meanwhile Senegal is both stingy in defense -- they conceded just once in qualifying -- and absolutely packed with forward power. They could well take advantage of the slight chaos hovering over the Ghana camp.
Then comes the game many have been waiting for, that first glimpse of Algeria in the AFCON finals. Already adored by neutrals during last summer's World Cup, the new-look Fennec Foxes could be even more revered, seeing as now they've put aside pragmatism in favor of a more attack-minded approach. It's tough to see South Africa getting anything out of this game. They may have finished top of the group in qualifying, but it was a fairly weak assembly, with many goals coming against bottom-side Sudan. The Bafana Bafana will be relying on their defense to halt Algeria -- a rather risky approach.
