The United States men’s national team will send out the lineup most expected to face Mexico in the Confederations Cup playoff. Michael Bradley captains the team, and he’ll play in the No. 10 role behind Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore.
USA vs. Mexico lineups: Michael Bradley leads USMNT squad with no surprises
The USMNT squad is as expected to face El Tri.

Jurgen Klinsmann has drafted in two defensive midfielders, Jermaine Jones and Kyle Beckerman. They’re joined in midfield by Gyasi Zardes, usually a winger, so it’s not clear exactly what the team’s shape will look like. Geoff Cameron and Matt Besler are back, and they will anchor the center of defense. In goal, Brad Guzan is preferred to Tim Howard.
El Tri have opted for an extremely attacking lineup. They’re only playing two recognized midfielders and have picked three strikers. It’s possible that Rafa Marquez could push up the pitch and make this a 4-3-3, though, rather than a 3-4-3.
United States lineup: Brad Guzan, DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, Geoff Cameron, Fabian Johnson, Kyle Beckerman, Jermaine Jones, Gyasi Zardes, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore
Mexico lineup: Moises Muñoz, Hector Moreno, Rafa Marquez, Diego Reyes, Miguel Layun, Andres Guardado, Hector Herrera, Paul Aguilar, Raul Jimenez, Oribe Peralta, Javier Hernandez
