Argentina are still searching for their first win in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, but their task won’t be any easier tonight as they must face Brazil. More difficult, they must do so without their top two attackers, with Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero both out injured.
Argentina vs. Brazil: Lineups and team news
Argentina are going all-out with their available players to get their first World Cup qualifying win, but Brazil have put out a very strong side, as well.

The squad that they’ve put out is still a very strong one, though, with a front line of Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain and Ezequiel Lavezzi being one that would give many defenses a nightmarish matchup problem. They’ve also put out a strong group of midfielders with excellent defensive chops, likely aimed at trying to slow down the lethal attacking midfield band that Brazil are deploying.
Neymar is a dizzying nightmare for most defenses on his own, but with the form Willian has been in of late on the other flank and the calm, efficient playmaking presence of Lucas Lima between them, it’s going to be very, very difficult to stop Brazil. They also have an extraordinary bench to call on to allow Dunga to make in-match adjustments, so Argentina will have to be at their very best if they want to win this match.
Argentina starting XI (4-3-3): Sergio Romero; Facundo Roncaglia, Nicolas Otamendi, Ramiro Funes Mori, Marcos Rojo; Lucas Biglia, Javier Mascherano, Ever Banega; Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain, Ezequiel Lavezzi
Brazil starting XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Dani Alves, João Miranda, David Luiz, Filipe Luis; Luiz Gustavo, Elias; Willian, Lucas Lima, Neymar; Ricardo Oliveira
