Columbus Crew scores from opening kickoff, 9 seconds into MLS playoff game

Poor Red Bulls.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

Kickoff back to Wil Trapp, long ball to Kei Kamara, headed to Ethan Finlay, poked in by Justin Meram, goal. That's how easy it was for Columbus Crew SC to take the lead in the MLS Eastern Conference final against New York Red Bulls, just nine seconds into their series.

If you were wondering, yes, this is the fastest goal in the history of the MLS playoffs.

There's also a USMNT element to this. First, shout out to future Camp Cupcake participants Trapp and Finlay, who will have chances to audition for a place in Jurgen Klinsmann's squad this January. Anti-shout out to Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga, who just made his USMNT debut last week. That's one heck of a whiff.
