El Clásico is less than two weeks away, but Real Madrid can’t get caught looking ahead. They have a very difficult test on Sunday, away to Sevilla.

Real Madrid slipped a bit in October, drawing a couple of games in a row, but they’ve recovered nicely. Los Merengues have scored three goals in all of their last three games, taking nine points from them to keep themselves on top of La Liga. They’re currently level on points with rivals Barcelona, but ahead of them on goal differential.

Sevilla have had a tough season so far and are currently in the bottom half. They looked like they were on their way back up the table during most of October, but fell to Villarreal last week. They’re currently eight points off a Champions League place and seven points out of Europa League.

Both sides played in the Champions League midweek. Madrid squeaked past Paris Saint-Germain in a very close match, while Sevilla were beaten by Manchester City.

When they last met

Madrid won this fixture last season, in a thriller. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick as his side held off a late surge from Sevilla in a 3-2 win. Los Merengues won the other meeting between these two sides as well, beating the Rojiblancos 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu behind goals by James Rodríguez and Jesé.

Upset potential -- moderate

No one would ever count Sevilla out of any match at home, but Madrid are in excellent form at the moment, while the hosts are not. Madrid are just starting to get healthy after a series of unlucky injuries as well, and will have a strong squad for this match.

Sevilla injuries and suspensions

Out: Daniel Carrico (hamstring), Nicolás Pareja (knee). In doubt: Kévin Gameiro (hamstring), Lusimi (foot), Beto (knee), Gael Kakuta (hamstring).
