English League Cup quarterfinals schedule and scores

By the end of Wednesday we’ll know the Capital One Cup’s final four.

We’re getting so late in the Capital One Cup that if you try really hard, you might even find it interesting. The competition’s quarterfinals kick off on Tuesday, with three Premier League sides in action against second-tier opponents.

In their trip to Championship high-flyers Middlesbrough, Everton arguably have the toughest task; though Hull City's recent top flight experience should give them a hand in their visit to Manchester City. In the third of Tuesday's games, mid-table Premier League team Stoke City play host to mid-table Championship team Sheffield Wednesday. Exciting!

The last of the quarterfinals will take place Wednesday, and is the only one to be played between two top-tier outfits. Ronald Koeman will be hoping his Southampton side will be able to overcome their recent rocky form at home to Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool -- a team looking better with each passing week.

Tues., Dec. 1
