The Champions League group stage is drawing to a close, and while some knockout round spots have been knotted up and finalized, some groups are still very much up in the air. Group B is one of those, and the result of this match between Wolfsburg and Manchester United in Germany will determine which one of them finishes in the top spot -- or if Dutch side PSV Eindhoven will get an opening to rise up and snag first for themselves.
Manchester United vs. Wolfsburg 2015 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Champions League online
Champions League Group B is going down to the wire, with a key duel in Germany to see who finishes in first place.
Right now, Wolfsburg are on top with nine points, and Manchester are a point behind them. PSV are in third place with seven points, and CSKA Moscow are well adrift with four points. If either Wolfsburg or Manchester United win, they take first place, and the other is at risk of falling to third place and the Europa League depending on the result of the match between PSV and CSKA in Holland.
Wolfsburg will be happy with a draw -- a point is all they need to guarantee they go to the knockout rounds -- but Manchester have to win if they make sure they move on in the Champions League. Neither team is particularly interested in bumping down to the lesser competition, so expect them both to go all-out in their pursuit of the promised land.
Key Wolfsburg player -- Julian Draxler
Wolfsburg have failed to recapture last season's barnstorming attacking form, thanks in part to their struggles to replace the sheer quality Kevin De Bruyne brought their attack from his playmaking role. Draxler has done his best to replicate that quality since he joined from Schalke this summer, but his form has been highly variable and unreliable. If Draxler can't perform at a high level in this match, it's going to be a rough go for Wolfsburg as they try to win their group.
Key Manchester United player -- Juan Mata
With so much of Manchester’s attack hurt or out of form, Mata’s steady play this season is the only consistently bright light they’ve had. His creativity and ability to take chances for himself has kept Manchester in matches that they’d otherwise struggled to keep up in, and that ability is going to be more important than ever in this game, when there’s so much on the line.
