Bas Dost and Kevin De Bruyne are the fangs of Die Wölfe

Bas Dost and Kevin De Bruyne have turned Wolfsburg in to a wrecking crew, and it’s so much fun to watch.

Ever since the awakening of Bas Dost, Wolfsburg have been an absolute juggernaut. It's not that they weren't good without him -- Wolfsburg were second in the Bundesliga at the winter break, after all. But with his talents up top combined with Kevin De Bruyne's creative ability, they've been nigh impossible to stop.

Just look at today's match against Werder Bremen. Down 2-1 early, Wolfsburg were forced in to a position most teams would struggle in. Most teams would find themselves pressing too aggressively and screwing up their chances. Wolfsburg aren't most teams.

Thanks to reddit user cppn02 for the gif. He also has gifs of all the goals from the match, including two beauties from Dost.

That’s Dost with a ridiculous first-time pass to De Bruyne, who calmly put the ball on a platter for Max Arnold to finish off. With Wolfsburg down 3-2 at halftime, the two combined for two ludicrous goals early in the second half, and it was Dost again playing creator for Wolfsburg’s fifth of the match as Die Wölfe decided that they didn’t care about Werder’s lead or high-effort play and put them away with ease.

With De Bruyne at the heart of Wolfsburg’s attack and the likes of Ivan Perisic and Ivica Olic complementing him, the German side was plenty dangerous. With the emergence of Dost playing the way he’s capable of, they’re downright lethal. Before it was relatively easy to mark out De Bruyne and take some of the teeth out of Woldsburg’s attack, but with Dost around you can’t take both out of the match. Either one are capable of killing a defense on their own, but working together? You just can’t stop them.

Just imagine how good this attack could get once Andre Schurrle integrates in to the side more fully and works his way in to form. That’s downright scary to think of.
