If Arsenal are to make it to the Champions League quarterfinals, they’re going to have to pull off a very special comeback against Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Tuesday. The Ligue 1 club pulled off a big surprise to win the first leg 3-1, meaning the Gunners will have to score at least three times if they are to stand any chance of progressing. Manager Arsène Wenger will be hoping for a gift from his former club.
Monaco vs. Arsenal, Champions League 2015: Game time, TV schedule and news
Monaco hold a healthy aggregate lead over Arsenal ahead of their Champions League second leg on Tuesday.

Arsenal’s recent form does at least offer them some hope of pulling off a surprise: they’ve won four matches on the bounce since the first leg humiliation at the Emirates, and have moved up into third place in the Premier League. For For all of their odd inconsistencies, it is actually turning into a pretty good domestic season for the Gunners. Their task here is difficult, but certainly not impossible.
Key player - Alexis Sánchez (Arsenal)
Alexis Sánchez is on his most unproductive goalscoring run since arriving at Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer, having only netted once in his last 10 appearances. It is becoming increasingly problematic for a Gunners side heavily reliant on the Chilean winger to be able to take on opponents in one-on-ones. If they’re to stand any chance of beating Monaco in this match, they’ll have to hope that Sánchez manages to re-find some of his best form.
Key matchup - Arsenal's defence vs. the Monaco counter-attack
In this game, it’s likely that Arsenal will generally dictate possession, while Monaco look to sit back, soak up pressure, and hit the Gunners on the break. Their pacey wingers mean they pose a massive threat on the counter-attack, and Arsenal will need to make sure they’re able to keep things tight at the back if they want to avoid shipping even more goals.
Monaco injuries and suspensions
Out: Andrea Raggi (knee), Tiémoué Bakayoko (hamstring), Lacina Traoré (shin).
Arsenal injuries and suspensions
Out: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Mathieu Debuchy (shoulder), Mikel Arteta (ankle and calf). In doubt: Gabriel (hamstring), Tomas Rosicky (ankle).
Monaco will be without veteran defender Andrea Raggi, young midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko and striker Lacina Traoré, though none of their absentees will concern Jardim too much. Veteran anchorman Jérémy Toulalan returns from suspension in time to play. Arsenal, meanwhile, will still be without defender Mathieu Debuchy and midfielders Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta, though Aaron Ramsey is back after his layoff.
