With just one loss since Winterpause, Borussia Mönchengladbach have been in good form. However, fans of the club would have felt much safer had their team won the two matches they drew in the second half of the season so far. A two-goal lead was squandered against Mainz 05, and Branimir Hrgota’s stoppage time equaliser meant that a trip to Hamburger SV resulted in just one point.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch online
Trying to keep pace with the host of Champions League challengers in the Bundesliga, Borussia Mönchengladbach have a tough task ahead as they head to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich.

Normally a run of five wins, two draws, and one loss would be something to look back upon with high esteem, but it might not have resulted in a big enough return in the win column. The Foals have a brutal set of fixtures left. They still have to play everyone in the top half save for Schalke 04, and of the two teams they play from the bottom half of the table - one is Borussia Dortmund. This stretch of matches means that Lucien Favre’s side can take nothing for granted, as even a place in the Europa League isn’t a sure thing at this point.
Bayern Munich seem to be back to their old, unbeatable selves. After the first two matches of the Rückrunde produced just a point, Pep Guardiola’s side has averaged five goals per match in their last five in the league. With an 11-point cushion over second-placed Wolfsburg, you do start to wonder if complacency comes in to play. The Champions League is obviously the priority at this point, and even Manuel Neuer was rested last week for the first time all year.
The first time around, Borussia Mönchengladbach was able to hold Bayern Munich to a scoreless draw at the Borussia Park. Despite Bayern having nearly 70 percent possession, it was ‘Gladbach that created arguably the more dangerous chances, and Manuel Neuer was crucial in goal for the Bavarians. Both he and Yann Sommer made five saves each in the match, and the Borussians will be hoping that their man is again in top form. In October, both David Alaba and Philipp Lahm were deployed in midfield with Rafinha and Juan Bernat in defence as the fullbacks. Guardiola might not be as defensive this time, and flooding the midfield could overwhelm Favre’s wide 4-4-2. Christoph Kramer and Granit Xhaka will need help from both the wide players and the forwards if they want to have any hope of possessing the ball.
Bayern Munich injuries and suspensions
Out: Thiago Alcântara (knee), Javi Martinez (knee), Mehdi Benatia (suspended).
Borussia Mönchengladbach injuries and suspensions
Out: none. In Doubt: Håvard Nordveit (illness), Julian Korb (illness).
While Bayern wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben missed the 4-0 win over Werder Bremen last week with minor injuries, they are expected to be eligible for selection against 'Gladbach. Mehdi Benatia picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Die Werderaner and incurred a one-game suspension. Philipp Lahm got an eight-minute cameo against Bremen, and could return to the starting lineup this weekend.
One thing Die Fohlenelf have going for them is a relatively clean bill of health. Håvard Nordveit and Julian Korb had a bug early in the week, but may be good to go. Since returning from an Achilles tendon injury, André Hahn has found it difficult to crack the starting lineup, but he is now fully fit and could play a part.
