It's been a run of wonderful form for Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben, with the Dutchman perhaps playing better than he has in years over the last few months. That form may have just come to a screeching halt, however, after Robben had to be helped off the pitch after suffering an injury just 24 minutes in to today's match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Arjen Robben leaves Mönchengladbach match with injury
The Dutch international had to leave Bayern Munich’s match against Borussia Mönchengladbach early

Robben had been clashing with Gladbach fullback Tony Jantshcke for some minutes and had already come off the worse for a challenge not long before going down. The actual incident that got him hurt saw Robben get upended and seem to catch his right leg strangely as he landed. The winger clutched at his right knee as physios made their way out to him, and they seemed to be looking at the same place as they helped him up and off the pitch.
Knee injuries are something that have plagued Robben throughout his career, so perhaps this isn’t much of a surprise. Still, it’s not the greatest of news for Bayern, who will be crossing their fingers and hoping that Robben’s injury isn’t serious as they prepare for a congested run of fixtures in the next month that includes their Champions League quarterfinal tie with Porto. Bayern have considerable attacking depth, as evidenced by star Thomas Müller being the man to replace Robben in the match, but they’ll need their side as healthy as possible to continue their efforts to win a treble.
UPDATE - Bayern Munich have announced the extent of Robben’s injury, and it’s not great news for the Dutchman. At least it’s not yet another knee injury.
Bad news: Arjen #Robben has torn an abdominal muscle and will be out for several weeks.
