USA vs. Mexico 2015: Time, TV schedule and team news

The United States and Mexico face off on Wednesday, and it’s not likely to be the last time they see each other this year.

Preview and TV schedule for the Confederations Cup playoff game is here

With just under three months remaining until Gold Cup, Miguel Herrera and Jurgen Klinsmann want to get a look at as many players as possible. Wednesday’s friendly between the United States in Mexico will be one of their last chances to experiment before they set their teams and start preparing for CONCACAF’s championship properly.

Both teams have called in mostly domestic-based players, since this isn’t a FIFA date. Players who get regular time with their teams in Europe haven’t come over. However, Jurgen Klinsmann has brought in DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur and Julian Green from Bayern Munich, on loan at Hamburg. Neither was expected to start this weekend.

Herrera’s team is likely to be a very strange one by his standards, though he’ll stick with his usual 3-5-2 formation. Klinsmann’s team is anyone’s guess, but Michael Bradley will captain the side.

There have been some questions about the pitch, which isn't going to be in good shape. The Alamo Dome has turf, which no one likes playing on, so temporary grass has been laid over it. The problem is, temporary grass produces way more inconsistent ball bounces and potential for injury than turf does. Mexico isn't happy about having to play on it, but with the stadium sold out, the United States insists the game has to go on.
