The two biggest sides in North America face off on Wednesday, but it’s not exactly a Gold Cup final preview. Mexico and the United States have scheduled a non-FIFA date friendly, meaning they could only call up players who didn’t have to travel across an ocean. Jurgen Klinsmann and Miguel Herrera are using this chance to take one last look at some players on the fringes of their first team.
USA vs. Mexico 2015 live stream: How to watch USMNT online
North America’s biggest soccer rivalry renews on Wednesday when the United States hosts Mexico in San Antonio.
Unfortunately, they’re unlikely to gather great information, thanks to a pretty shoddy field. Temporary grass was laid over the Alamo Dome turf, and it’s in poor condition, as temporary grass usually is. Mexico are pretty unhappy about having to play the match at all, and the club teams probably aren’t thrilled about their players participating in this one either.
Mexico is expected to give 21-year-old defender Carlos Salcedo his full debut, while Mario Osuna and Marco Bueno, a couple of other players with no caps, should play some part. The United States will have no debutants, but a handful of fringe players could get chances to impress. Perry Kitchen, Miguel Ibarra and Lee Nguyen are probably on the outside of the Gold Cup squad looking in, but could play their way onto the team with great showings here.
Match date/time: Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET
Venue: Alamo Dome, San Antonio, Texas
TV: FOX Sports 1 (U.S. - English), Univision Deportes (U.S. - Spanish), Azteca 7, Televisa 5 (Mexico)
Online: If you want to watch the game in English, it’s on FOX Sports Go. It’s free, but you’ll need to be a TV subscriber to FOX Sports 1 to watch. If that doesn’t work for you or you’d rather watch in Spanish, the game is also available on Univision Deportes en vivo. Unfortunately, this game is not showed live on FOX Soccer 2 Go like Champions League and some other matches that are on FOX networks.
