A fan protest was planned for Blackpool’s match against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, but no one expected a full-scale pitch invasion. Huddersfield supporters even joined them.

Can they finally get the Oystons out?

— William Watt (@WillWatt) May 2, 2015 “Get out of our club, get out of our club, you greedy bastards, get out of our club,” sang Blackpool fans during their final game of the season, which will also be their last in the Championship. The club has operated on a shoestring budget and hemorrhaged players since their relegation to the Premier League, thanks to the mismanagement of the Oyston family. They’re heading down to League One, and their fans have had enough.

— Mark Davies (@MDaviesJourn) May 2, 2015 Beyond the shady finances, Karl Oyston has also called supporters “retards,” issued a bizarre open letter to foreign investors that made him look wildly unprofessional and removed a popular statue from outside the ground without notice after fans planned to hang protest scarves and banners on it. His father, long-time owner Owen, was convicted of rape in 1996, and was therefore unable to travel to meet with the club’s foreign investors as outlined in Karl’s open letter.
The Oyston family has owned Blackpool since 1988 and hasn’t indicated that they’re ready to let go, but it’s hard to imagine them making any money off the club next year if they don’t. Fans are just going to refuse to show up.
