Penalty restores Juventus lead as Carlos Tevez makes it 2-1 over Real Madrid

The one thing you don’t want to do in a Champions League semifinal is give up a penalty. Dani Carvajal forgot that rule.

Real Madrid were nursing an even scoreline in Turin, keeping Juventus at bay while pushing for a second away goal in this Champions League tie. It looked like they might get it, until a change of possession after a corner saw Juve counter against an almost empty Real Madrid defense.

Carlos Tévez was off to the races, and when Alvaro Morata's supporting run was hacked down, Tévez had to finish it off himself. He wouldn't manage to score on the counter, but thanks to a poor challenge from Dani Carvajal in the box, referee Martin Atkinsson was left with no choice but to give Juventus a penalty.

It really was a terrible challenge from Carvajal, and his shocked expression at the referee’s decision did him no favors. It was a clear penalty, and Tévez finished it with ease, scoring his 50th goal since joining Juventus and giving his side a vital 2-1 lead in the process.
