USA vs. Nigeria live stream: How to watch the Women’s World Cup online

The USWNT need a win to ensure that they top their group in the World Cup.

Group D is in an odd state thanks to some surprising results, and it’s wide open going into the last set of matches. The United States are on top of the group for now, but they have yet to truly impress early on in the 2015 Women’s World Cup. A loss to Nigeria on Tuesday night could completely turn the group on its head.

The USWNT are arguably the most talented side in this World Cup, but they’ve had to use late heroics to beat Australia and couldn’t break down a resolute Sweden side. That puts them in a situation where they have to win to guarantee that they top the group and get an easier path through the knockout rounds. Lose, and they risk falling into third place depending on how many goals they lose by and the result of the match between Australia and Sweden. That result would not be in any way good for the U.S.

Nigeria are not a side that they can take lightly, either. Yes, they have failed to win a match so far, but they went toe-to-toe with a good Sweden team without blinking and put in a solid performance despite their loss to Australia. The United States will have to vastly improve over their lackluster performances so far if they want to ensure a victory, but that also means they can use a strong performance against Nigeria to kick off an amazing run to their third Women’s World Cup title.
