Mexico and Ecuador enter Friday’s Copa America match separated by two points, but they’re essentially in the same place -- they both have to win.

El Tri could go through with a draw if both of Group C’s games end in wins for someone or Jamaica beats Uruguay by two goals or fewer, but those don’t seem like terribly likely outcomes. More likely than not, they need to beat Ecuador to secure progression to the next round. Ecuador, meanwhile, are in an absolute must-win, and need results in other groups to go their way even if they do get all three points.

Miguel Herrera might opt to keep his new attack in place, but alter his defense after Mexico's match against Chile. Tecatito Corona, Vicente Vuoso and Raul Jimenez proved to be a lethal combination up top, but El Tri's defense got shredded in a 3-3 draw. Ecuador haven't been able to get anything right in their first two games, and might consider wholesale changes in this must-win match.
