Germany beats France 5-4 in dramatic World Cup penalty shootout

This is pretty heartbreaking.

France and Germany played the best game of the women's World Cup so far, drawing 1-1 in a spectacular match. By the end of extra time, they were gassed, but they didn't show it in penalties. The first nine takers all scored, with Celia Sasic scoring Germany's fifth spot kick, so it was sudden death when Claire Lavogez stepped up as Les Bleus' fifth taker.

She placed her shot fairly well, but Germany keeper and 2013 FIFA World Player of the Year Nadine Angerer guessed correctly, making a brilliant diving stop to win the match for her team.

Germany is into the World Cup semifinals, where they will face the winner of the match between China and the United States.
