For the second tournament in a row, Paraguay have progressed past the point where they were expected to get knocked out thanks to a solid defense and penalty kicks. They knocked out Brazil in the quarterfinals, and now set their sights on a second straight upset. But Brazil didn’t have Neymar -- Argentina’s star, Lionel Messi, is still around, and in great form. They’ll be a bit harder to knock off.

These two teams met in the group stage in a bit of a weird match. Argentina absolutely battered Paraguay in the first hour, taking a deserved 2-0 lead, and they created enough chances that they should have scored more goals. But they didn’t put the game away, and Paraguay fought back, scoring twice in the second half to force a 2-2 draw.

It’s tough to see lightning striking twice, but Argentina haven’t exactly been clinical in major tournaments lately. They haven’t won one since 1993, when Gabriel Batistuta led them to the Copa America title.

Key player: Victor Cáceres

Paraguay's captain is the man at the heart of their midfield, and he'll be their most important player on Tuesday. Not only will he be tasked with kicking Lionel Messi a few times, but he'll be the man who starts most of Paraguay's counter attacks as well.

Key matchup: Sergio Aguero vs. Paraguay's CBs

Messi is going to be Argentina's best playmaker, and Paraguay are going to have a tough time stopping him. There's not really a great way to game plan for containing Messi. However, Argentina's opponents regularly have some success shutting down his attacking partners, which limits the damage he does. It's been an average tournament so far for Sergio Aguero, who Argentina need to step up, and Paraguay need to shut down.
