The United States women’s national team won the World Cup! To celebrate, the team will have a parade thrown in its honor down the Canyon of Heroes in New York City on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. ET. Anyone and everyone is welcome to line Broadway anywhere between Battery Park and City Hall. Admission is, of course, free.

The U.S. women’s national team will be getting a proper sendoff Friday for winning the World Cup.

The women’s national team defeated Japan, 5-2, on Sunday to secure the United States’ first women’s World Cup title since 1999. Carli Lloyd got a hat trick, and Abby Wambach may have capped a sterling national team career as one of the greatest women’s soccer players of all time. Those two, and the rest of your favorite USWNT stars -- Alex Morgan, Julie Johnston, Hope Solo, etc. -- should be in attendance.
The parade is expected to last until 12:15 p.m. Once it ends, there will be a special ceremony at City Hall hosted by New York City mayor Bill de Blasio. The parade will be the first in New York City in 30 years to honor a team not located in the city. The last female athlete to get a New York City ticker-tape parade was 1960 Olympic gold medalist figure skater Carol Heiss Jenkins.
The festivities will be televised on Fox Sports 1 and ESPN, in addition to local New York City stations. Live streaming will available on WatchESPN and New York City local news station websites. ABC 7 and NBC 4 have confirmed they will be showing live video.
