Bayern Munich likely to beat Arsenal and Real Madrid to Arturo Vidal

Vidal has been linked to a move all summer, but not to Bayern.

Many have been assuming for a little while now that Arturo Vidal would be leaving Juventus this summer. While there's no apparent issues between player and team, the fact is that some big teams are interested in the Chilean midfield star, with Arsenal and Real Madrid looking set to slug it out for him. Juventus could use the money, with this looking like a summer for them to re-tool their side and move into the future, and Vidal's had injury issues for a couple years.

Of course, no one expected this: Bayern Munich are apparently set to trump all of them and sign Vidal.

It's a rapidly developing story with some conflicting information flying around, but it all points in one direction: Bayern want Vidal, they're going to sign Vidal, and they're going to sign him soon. The signing would be a huge coup for Bayern, giving Pep Guardiola one heck of a fun new toy with which to play, and adding even more quality to a midfield that was already loaded with it.

Vidal would come in as a replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger, who just departed his life-long club to join Manchester United. With Schweinsteiger wracked by injuries over the last few years, he hasn't been quite the same force of nature he used to be at both ends of the pitch, but Vidal can bring that dynamism back to the German side's midfield. Plus, the Chilean already knows how to play in the Bundesliga, having starred for Bayer Leverkusen before moving to Italy.

With Pep already having Xabi Alonso, Thiago Alcantara, Sebastian Rode and Phiilipp Lahm to call on in the center of the pitch, as well as a few others who can work in that area if needed, adding Vidal to that mix gives Bayern a degree of flexibility and versatility in their lineup choices that will be the envy of Europe. With Bayern struggling to repeat their same dominance of Europe over the last couple of years, this might just be the extra edge they need to get over the hump.

Bayern already had a truly fantastic group in the middle, but if they do sign Vidal, it will be fantastic, and arguably the best midfield in the world. Barcelona's main starting trio might have an edge in quality, but the sheer depth of talent that Bayern has to call on with Vidal in the group would be unparalleled. One could even say that it might be unfair. We don't get a ton of game-changing transfers in a single summer, but Arturo Vidal signing for Bayern Munich might just be one of them.
