Manchester United have been making a noise in the transfer market already this summer. A loud one. Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian have all followed Memphis Depay into the club and have traveled with the squad on their pre-season tour of the United States.

They’re all likely to see game time in their opening fixture against Mexico’s Club América in Seattle on Friday, as their International Champions Cup campaign kicks off.

América need scarcely any introduction as the most successful club in Mexican football history, though Las Águilas have only won a couple of Primera División titles in the last decade. They should nevertheless prove to be stubborn opponents for a United team that could take a while to gel after a busy few weeks of new arrivals.

Fun Club América fringe player to watch: Alejandro Díaz

Striker Alejandro Díaz has so far struggled to force his way into the Club América first team, though he has consistently shone for Mexico’s youth teams. The 19-year-old came off the bench early in their ICC opener as they saw off the San José Earthquakes 2-1, and will undoubtedly be desperate to play in this match.

Fun Manchester United fringe player to watch: Andreas Pereira

United’s Brazilian playmaker Andreas Pereira has also yet to establish himself as a regular, though signs suggest he’s moving ever closer. He performed well as Brazil made a run to the U-20 World Cup final earlier in the summer, and it’d come as a big surprise if Louis van Gaal didn’t give him game time in the United States.

Compared to other friendlies, is this worth my time?

If only to catch a first glimpse of how United’s new signings could fit together this season, it’s probably worth a look. 6/10.

Venue: CenturyLink Field, Seattle

TV: FOX Sports 1 (U.S. - English), ESPN Deportes, (U.S. - Spanish), TSN2 (Canada), MUTV (U.K.)
