Following a slew of disappointing friendly performances and a group stage exit from Copa America, Miguel Herrera is expected to deliver results in Gold Cup. He’ll probably get to start off with a win over Cuba.

El Tri will expect to kick off their Gold Cup campaign with a comfortable win.

There’s not a great way to figure out how much of a problem Cuba will make this game for El Tri, since all of their players ply their trade domestically. The Cubans got to the quarterfinal of the 2013 Gold Cup, but only because they were in a group with Belize. They lost their other three matches. Mexico drew both of their warm-up games, against Costa Rica and Honduras, who are far superior opponents.
Mexico have Carlos Vela for this tournament, but they won't have Javier Hernandez or Hector Moreno due to injuries. Cuba will probably lose some members of their squad due to defection later in the tournament, but they're at full strength for this match.
