Alex Sandro is a huge transfer coup for Juventus

The Italian giants got an absolute steal with the emerging Brazli left back.

There's a new best left back in Serie A, as Juventus have finalized a deal to acquire Alex Sandro from Porto for a cool €22 million. After four wildly successful seasons in Portugal, Sandro is moving on to bigger and better things. Juventus are getting an absolute stud to slot into their lineup.

Sandro has quietly become one of the best left backs in the world over the past couple of seasons. That he did it at Porto, a good but hardly elite team, only says more about his quality. If he continues his rise to prominence, Dunga is going to have a very hard time keeping Sandro out of the Brazil side. They have no one at the position who’s better now or has a brighter future than Sandro, especially after a disappointing year from Felipe Luis.

He’s not just going to any team, either. Sandro is joining one of last year’s Champions League finalists in Juventus, a team that’s been forced to retool their side some this summer, but may actually be better because of it. A big part of why they lost that final is because Barcelona figured out that Juventus’ left flank was very weak defensively. That won’t be a problem anymore.

Juventus are also getting Sandro for an absolute steal. Real Madrid paid €9 million more to sign Porto’s other Brazilian fullback, Danilo, and Sandro is a much better player. Getting him for a significantly lower fee is a massive coup for Juventus.

Frankly, so is signing him at all. Most assumed that when Sandro eventually left Porto, it would be for a huge club like Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. Juventus getting him only affirms that they’ve taken a big step closer to those giants over the last couple of years.

If you want to see a left back put on a clinic on how to play the position, both in defense and attack, turn your gaze to Juventus. Alex Sandro will show you how the job is done.
