The United States prepares for their Confederations Cup playoff with a friendly against Peru.

Anticipating a lot of questions and controversy about the goalkeeper position, Jurgen Klinsmann acted fast to name a No. 1. Brad Guzan will remain between the sticks, despite Tim Howard coming out of international retirement.
There will be plenty of experimenting in other positions, though. After his central defense attracted lots of much-deserved criticism from their poor Gold Cup performance, Klinsmann called in six players who can play in that position. He’ll likely try out quite a few different pairs between the beginning of the Peru match and the end of the Brazil match.
The United States are missing DaMarcus Beasley due to injury, while Joe Gyau, Brad Evans and Brek Shea were all unavailable for selection as well, though all would have had a tough time getting in. Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey have been left off the squad so they can play in MLS this weekend, but they will play against Brazil. Peru are without one star from their Copa America run, veteran striker Claudio Pizarro.
