A shock defeat at the hands of Georgia on Friday has almost ruined Scotland's chances of qualifying for Euro 2016. Gordon Strachan's side were enjoying an unusually successful campaign, but a downturn in their form has seen them drop below the Republic of Ireland into fourth place. Along with minnows Gibraltar, they still have to play the top two teams in the group, so barring a couple of upsets, Scotland's wait for a major tournament will go on.

Scotland’s Euro 2016 hopes were dealt a blow by defeat to Georgia last time out. Now they face an even tougher test with Germany coming to town.

They take on group leaders Germany in their next match on Monday, with Joachim Löw's side having recovered from some patchy early form to win four competitive games on the bounce. From this stage on, it'd be surprising if they didn't manage a pretty comfortable qualification as group winners. However, if they're to do so they'll have to first cope with the Glasgow crowd, with the Tartan Army likely to be as vocal as ever.
When they last met
Scotland ran Germany admirably close at Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion when these sides met last September. Thomas Müller opened the scoring inside 20 minutes, but Scotland rallied and equalized through Ikechi Anya midway through the second half. Unfortunately for the visitors, their parity lasted just four minutes before Müller sealed his brace, with the game ending 2-1 to Germany.
Key player: Thomas Müller (Germany)
As his performance from last September suggested, Müller is a vitally important component of this Germany team. Though he’s not the most physically imposing of opponents, his incessant movement across the attacking third makes him a nightmare for defenders to mark. His knack of being in the right place at the right time is certainly no fluke either, with his reading of the game crucial to his success. Don’t be surprised to see him get on the scoresheet again.
