Serie A defending champions Juventus will look to continue their good run of form away at Sampdoria on Sunday. Massimiliano Allegri's side started the season poorly, but eight straight league wins have seen them move to within three points of league leaders Inter Milan. They'll be looking to close the gap further with a win away at one of the league's most inconsistent outfits.

Sampdoria head into this match on the back of a morale-boosting 3-2 win over local rivals Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna. New coach Vicenzo Montella has overseen the first back-to-back wins at Samp for the first time this season, and they'll surely be expecting to move up into the top half of the table over the second half of the campaign. Spirits seem as high as they've been for a while, and they could give Juve a tough match.

Key player: Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria)

When he’s not happy, Samp striker Antonio Cassano is an extremely frustrating player to watch. He mopes around the pitch and moans at his teammates, unable to unlock his talent. However, when on form, he’s a brilliant footballer. He was certainly at his best during Samp’s win over Genoa last time out, with his intelligent movement and brilliant range of passing making his deployment as a “false nine” a particularly shrewd one. Expect Montella to try the same strategy again.

Key matchup: Paul Pogba vs. Fernando

Juventus' prize asset remains midfielder Paul Pogba, with the young French midfielder still the envy of world football. He's capable of single-handedly seizing a game by the scruff of its neck, with his power, skill and lethal shot making him terrifying for opposing defenses. It'll be up to Samp's anchorman Fernando to afford some protection to his center backs, as well as suffocating Pogba of the space he needs to do serious damage.

Sampdoria injuries and suspensions

Out: Lorenzo De Silvestri (injured). In doubt: None.

Juventus injuries and suspensions

Out: Roberto Pereyra, Mario Lemina, Andrea Barzagli, Mario Mandžukić (injured); Claudio Marchisio (suspended). in doubt: None.

Sampdoria's only absentee will be injured right back De Silvestri, with Mattia Cassani set to deputize in defense. Juventus, meanwhile, will be without a few first-team regulars: chief among them are suspended midfielder Marchisio and injured striker Mandžukić, who could return to action when Juve take on Udinese in a week's time.
