Bolivia take on Ecuador in La Paz on Tuesday in the 10th round of World Cup qualifying matches. The hosts head in having won only two of their first nine, and only Venezuela sit between them and the foot of the table. Their chances of qualifying for Russia 2018 look slim at best, and soon they'll surely be playing for pride alone. Not since 1994 have they made it to a World Cup, and it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon.

Struggling Bolivia take on high-flying Ecuador in La Paz on Tuesday.

Ecuador, in contrast, have won five of their first nine, and have amassed sufficient points to sit third in the table behind Uruguay and Brazil. They certainly can't afford to take their foot off the pedal yet, however, with only tiebreakers keeping them above the fifth-place intercontinental playoff spot. They'll be hoping they're not too affected by the notoriously difficult altitude in La Paz, where they last won in 2009.
