Mauro Icardi insulted his own fans, so they cheered his mistakes and demanded Inter Milan strip him of the captaincy

Mauro Icardi is just 23 years old, but a publisher saw it fit to have him write a memoir, and he obliged. The results show why 23-year-olds should not be writing memoirs.

In his book, Icardi criticized Inter Milan supporters and claimed that he was a hero in the dressing room for standing up to a particularly critical section of the Curva. Given that he still has to play in front of them, that was a bad choice. He was booed by his own fans on Sunday and they cheered when he missed a penalty. Those same supporters are now calling for Icardi to be stripped of the captain’s armband.

Inter’s mad, too, and is apparently asking him to take a pay cut. He has absolutely no reason to do this, so he probably won’t.

Expect Icardi to fan the flames further -- this is a man who dated his teammate’s wife and later married her, after all.
